On March 22, 2025, I witnessed a heartbreaking tragedy unfold in Adum-Kumasi, Ghana. A devastating fire engulfed the market, leaving countless traders in despair as their livelihoods were reduced to ashes.
As I walked through the wreckage, speaking to some of the affected individuals, I could feel the overwhelming sense of loss and hopelessness. Many of these women had invested their last resources into their businesses, only to watch everything disappear in an instant. The thick smoke and crackling flames painted a painful picture of their suffering.
It was especially heartbreaking to see mothers wondering how they would provide for their children and young ones struggling to understand the depth of the tragedy. Yet, amid the sorrow, I held onto a sense of divine hope. Though the fire took away what they had built, I believe that something greater will arise from the ashes—because resilience and strength remain in the hearts of these people.
This is not the end of their story. One day, something bigger and better will come their way.
